10:00 - 11:00 a.m
Presenter: Nicholas C. Burbules, EPOL Dept.
Nick Burbules has been teaching online courses for the college since 1998, when the first online MEd program, Curriculum, Technology and Educational Reform (CTER), was launched.
Teaching online is not just a matter of porting over a syllabus and lectures into a different “delivery system.” Online is a different kind of teaching and learning environment, and that creates new possibilities as well as new challenges.
This talk will focus on how to plan the transition from a regular course to a version that takes advantage of the distinct affordances of new technologies and less on technical nuts and bolts. Nick will share some examples from his online courses to illustrate some possibilities that the online environment affords.
